- Sku : I-002931
Key features
HYLO COMOD 0.1% Eye Drops contain sodium hyaluronate 0.1% as the active ingredient in an ophthalmic drop formulation. It is indicated for lubrication and moisturization of the ocular surface for symptoms of dry eye (e.g., dryness, burning, foreign-body sensation) and for supportive care after ophthalmic surgery or other causes of tear film insufficiency. Indications
Approved Uses
Lubrication and moisturization of the ocular surface for symptoms of dry eye (e.g., dryness, burning, foreign body sensation) and supportive care after ophthalmic surgical interventions or other causes of tear film insufficiency.
Off-Label Uses
Adjunctive ocular surface support in corneal epithelial defects/abrasions and post‑refractive surgery dryness (as supportive lubrication, not as definitive therapy).
Dosage & Administration
Dosing by Condition
Dry eye/ocular surface lubrication: Instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) 3 times daily; may be used more frequently as needed based on symptoms. If very frequent use is required (e.g., >10 times/day) or symptoms persist/worsen, seek ophthalmic review.
Initial Dose
1 drop into the affected eye(s) 3 times daily
Maintenance Dose
1 drop into the affected eye(s) 3-6 times daily as needed
Maximum Dose
No defined maximum daily dose; typical use is 1 drop in the affected eye(s) as needed (often 3-4 times daily), and if very frequent use is required (e.g., >10 times/day), seek ophthalmology review.
Children's Dosage
May be used in children under medical supervision; no specific pediatric dose differs from adult dosing
Dose Adjustment Notes
No dose adjustment is required in renal or hepatic impairment.
How to Take
Wash hands. Remove cap. Tilt head back and pull down the lower eyelid to form a pocket. Hold the COMOD bottle upright over the eye and press the pump to instill 1 drop into the conjunctival sac. Close the eye gently (do not squeeze) and blink normally. Avoid touching the tip to the eye/skin/any surface. Replace cap after use.
Side Effects
Common Side Effects
Transient blurred vision immediately after instillation, mild burning/stinging, temporary eye irritation/discomfort; occasional redness.
Side Effect Frequency
Most effects are local and usually mild/transient: blurred vision, mild burning/stinging/irritation, and increased tearing can occur; hypersensitivity reactions are rare.
Safety & Warnings
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to sodium hyaluronate or to any excipients in the formulation.
Warnings & Precautions
For ophthalmic use only; avoid touching the tip to the eye/skin/surfaces to prevent contamination; do not share the bottle; discontinue and seek care if pain, vision changes, or persistent redness/irritation occurs; follow standard contact-lens precautions per clinician advice.
Age Restriction
No specific age restriction in the verified API data; use in children (especially infants) should be under clinician/parental supervision per general ophthalmic lubricant practice.
Driving Warning
Safe
Drug Interactions
Drug Interactions
No clinically relevant systemic drug interactions expected; if using other ophthalmic products, separate administrations by at least 15 minutes and use HYLO-COMOD last; if an eye ointment is used, apply the ointment last.
Interaction Severity
MINOR: Other topical ophthalmic medicines may be diluted/washed out if given together; separate administrations by at least 10-15 minutes (and apply eye ointments last).
Food Interaction
No restriction
Special Populations

Breastfeeding

Children
May be used in children under medical supervision; no specific pediatric dose differs from adult dosing
Elderly
Standard adult dosing
Kidney Impairment
No adjustment needed
Liver Impairment
No adjustment needed
Storage & Patient Advice
Missed Dose
If used on a schedule, instill when remembered and continue as usual; if used as needed, simply use when symptoms occur-do not double doses.
Stopping the Medicine
Safe to stop anytime.
Overdose
Overdose is unlikely with topical ocular use; excess instillation may cause transient blurred vision or mild irritation, managed by wiping/rinsing and supportive care with no specific antidote.
Patient Counseling
For symptomatic relief of dry/irritated eyes: instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) about 3 times daily or as needed. Wash hands; avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye/skin/surfaces. If using other ophthalmic products, separate administrations by at least 5-10 minutes (ointments last); use this product last if it is the most viscous. Temporary blurred vision may occur-avoid driving until vision clears. Contact lenses: remove before instillation and reinsert after ~15 minutes (or follow clinician advice). Stop and seek medical care if eye pain, marked/worsening redness, photophobia, discharge, or vision changes occur. Discard 6 months after first opening.
Monitoring Requirements
No routine monitoring required
Pharmacology
Mechanism of Action
Sodium hyaluronate is a viscoelastic, water-binding polymer that adheres to the ocular surface to stabilize the tear film, increase lubrication, reduce friction, and support epithelial surface healing/comfort.
Onset of Action
Immediate (within minutes).
Duration of Effect
Several hours per dose (commonly around 2-4 hours, variable by severity and environment).
Half-Life
No clinically meaningful systemic half-life; ocular residence time is limited and depends on tear turnover (typically minutes to tens of minutes).
Bioavailability
Systemic bioavailability is negligible after ophthalmic administration.
Metabolism
Not clinically relevant systemically; locally/if absorbed, hyaluronate is enzymatically degraded (e.g., by hyaluronidases) to endogenous sugars and enters normal metabolism.
Excretion
Primarily cleared from the ocular surface by tear turnover/nasolacrimal drainage; any small amount absorbed is handled via normal polysaccharide catabolism pathways.
Protein Binding
Not applicable/clinically irrelevant due to negligible systemic absorption.
