Indications

Approved Uses

Symptomatic treatment of venolymphatic (chronic venous) insufficiency (e.g., heavy/painful legs) and symptomatic treatment of acute hemorrhoidal attack.

Off-Label Uses

Off-label/adjunct uses reported: venous leg ulcers (adjunct to compression), lymphedema (adjunct), and other microcirculatory disorders (e.g., diabetic retinopathy) where used in some settings but not universally guideline-endorsed.

Dosage & Administration

Dosing by Condition

Venolymphatic (chronic venous) insufficiency: 2 tablets/day with meals (e.g., 1 at midday and 1 in the evening). Acute hemorrhoidal attack: 6 tablets/day for 4 days, then 4 tablets/day for 3 days, taken with meals in divided doses.

Initial Dose

Acute hemorrhoidal attack: 6 tablets (3000mg) per day for the first 4 days.

Maintenance Dose

Venolymphatic insufficiency: 2 tablets (1000mg) per day.

Maximum Dose

6 tablets per day (3000mg total) during acute hemorrhoidal attack phase only

Pharmacology

Mechanism of Action

Improves venous tone and reduces venous capacitance/stasis; decreases capillary permeability and increases resistance; enhances lymphatic drainage; exerts anti-inflammatory microcirculatory effects (e.g., reduced leukocyte activation/mediators).

Onset of Action

Hemorrhoidal symptoms may improve within a few days on the acute regimen; for chronic venous insufficiency, symptom improvement typically requires ~2-4 weeks of continuous therapy and is maintained with ongoing daily dosing.

Bioavailability

Micronized purified flavonoid fraction (MPFF) improves oral absorption/bioavailability versus non‑micronized diosmin; absolute bioavailability is not well established.
