Approved Uses
Short‑term treatment of acute mild to moderate pain; symptomatic relief of pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis; symptomatic relief of pain and inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis.
Dosage & Administration
Dosing by Condition
Acute pain: 8-16 mg/day in 2-3 divided doses (max 16 mg/day). Osteoarthritis/Rheumatoid arthritis: usually 12 mg/day in 2-3 divided doses; may increase up to 16 mg/day (max 16 mg/day).
Initial Dose
8-16 mg daily for pain; 12 mg daily for arthritis.
Maintenance Dose
8mg twice daily (16mg/day)
Maximum Dose
16 mg daily (oral).
Pharmacology
Mechanism of Action
Reversibly inhibits COX‑1 and COX‑2, decreasing prostaglandin synthesis and thereby reducing pain, inflammation, and fever.
Duration of Effect
