Indications

Approved Uses

Temporary relief of burning, irritation, and discomfort due to dry eyes; and protection against further irritation.

Off-Label Uses

Adjunct lubrication for contact lens-related dryness (if compatible with lens use per labeling), post‑operative ocular surface dryness (e.g., after refractive surgery) under clinician advice, and symptomatic relief of screen/low-humidity-associated dryness.

Dosage & Administration

Initial Dose

Instill 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye(s) as needed.

Maintenance Dose

1-2 drops into affected eye(s) 3-4 times daily or as needed for symptom relief

Side Effects

Common Side Effects

Transient blurred vision, mild eye irritation/stinging/burning, eye redness, watery eyes or mild discharge, and eye pain/itching (uncommon).

Not clinically applicable (no meaningful systemic half-life); ocular residence is governed by tear film turnover.

Bioavailability

Systemic bioavailability is negligible after topical ophthalmic administration.

Excretion

Primarily cleared locally via tear turnover and nasolacrimal drainage; any minute absorbed fraction would be eliminated by normal systemic pathways (predominantly renal).
