HYFRESH GEL 0.3% EYE DROPS 20/UNIDOSE

46.1
  • Sku : I-022712
  • Key features

HYFRESH Gel 0.3% eye drops contain sodium hyaluronate (3 mg/ml) as the active ingredient in a gel formulation. Sodium hyaluronate is a viscoelastic polymer that binds and retains water to form a lubricating, protective film on the ocular surface, stabilizing the tear film and reducing friction. It provides symptomatic relief of dry eye, including irritation, burning, foreign‑body sensation and dryness due to insufficient tear film, and acts as a tear substitute and protective lubricant for ocular surface dryness. Supplied as 0.45 ml single‑use unidose units.

Description

Indications

Approved Uses

Symptomatic relief of dry eye (ocular surface lubrication) including irritation, burning, foreign-body sensation, and dryness due to insufficient tear film; may be used as a tear substitute/protective lubricant for ocular surface dryness/irritation.

Off-Label Uses

Adjunctive ocular surface lubrication after refractive/ocular surgery (e.g., LASIK/PRK/cataract) and for contact lens-related dryness/irritation (when compatible with lens-wear instructions).

Dosage & Administration

Dosing by Condition

Dry eye/ocular surface lubrication: Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) as needed; commonly 3-4 times daily, and may be used more frequently in severe symptoms per clinician advice.

Initial Dose

1 drop instilled into the affected eye(s) 3-5 times daily

Maintenance Dose

1 drop instilled into the affected eye(s) as needed, typically 3-5 times daily

Maximum Dose

No defined maximum dose; use as needed per symptoms (commonly 1 drop as required).

Children's Dosage

No specific pediatric dosing established; use under medical supervision in children

Dose Adjustment Notes

No dose adjustment is required in renal or hepatic impairment (minimal systemic absorption with ophthalmic use).

How to Take

Wash hands. Open the single-dose (unidose) container by twisting off the tip. Tilt head back, pull down the lower eyelid to form a pocket, instill 1 drop into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s). Avoid touching the tip to the eye/skin/any surface. Close the eye gently (do not rub). Discard the unidose container immediately after use (do not reuse). If using other eye medicines, separate by at least 10-15 minutes (apply this gel last if using both drops and gel).

Side Effects

Common Side Effects

Transient blurred vision after instillation; mild, temporary eye irritation such as stinging/burning or foreign-body sensation; occasional itching/redness.

Side Effect Frequency

Common: transient blurred vision and mild transient stinging/burning/irritation after instillation; Uncommon: redness, foreign-body sensation, eyelid irritation; Rare/very rare: hypersensitivity reactions.

Safety & Warnings

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to sodium hyaluronate or any other component of the formulation.

Warnings & Precautions

For ophthalmic use only; avoid touching the tip to prevent contamination; single-dose unit-discard after opening (do not reuse/store); remove contact lenses before use and reinsert after ~15 minutes if appropriate; stop and seek medical advice if pain, vision changes, or persistent/worsening redness/irritation occur; do not use if allergic to ingredients.

Age Restriction

No specific age restriction; can be used in children if needed, preferably under caregiver/clinician guidance.

Driving Warning

Temporary blurred vision may occur due to gel viscosity-avoid driving or operating machinery until vision clears.

Drug Interactions

Drug Interactions

No clinically significant systemic drug interactions expected; if using other ophthalmic products, separate by 5-15 minutes and apply the gel last.

Interaction Severity

Minor: Other topical ophthalmic products may be diluted/washed out-separate administrations by at least 10-15 minutes (use gel last). No clinically significant systemic drug interactions expected.

Food Interaction

No known food interactions; no restrictions.

Alcohol Interaction

Safe

Special Populations

Pregnancy

Safe

Breastfeeding

Safe

Children

No specific pediatric dosing established; use under medical supervision in children

Elderly

Standard adult dosing; no adjustment required

Kidney Impairment

No dose adjustment needed.

Liver Impairment

No dose adjustment needed.

Storage & Patient Advice

Storage Conditions

Store below 30°C. Keep away from direct sunlight. Each unidose vial is for single use only; discard any remaining contents immediately after use. Do not refrigerate unless specified.

Missed Dose

Not applicable for scheduled dosing; use as needed. If on a regular schedule, instill when remembered unless it is almost time for the next dose-do not double.

Stopping the Medicine

Safe to stop anytime; no tapering required

Overdose

Overdose is unlikely with ocular use; excess can be wiped away/rinsed, and seek advice if significant irritation occurs or if accidentally ingested (especially by a child).

Patient Counseling

For ophthalmic use only; wash hands, avoid touching the tip to prevent contamination; instill as directed; single-dose container-discard immediately after use and do not reuse; remove contact lenses before use and wait ~15 minutes before reinsertion; temporary blurred vision may occur-avoid driving/operating machinery until clear; seek medical advice if pain, persistent redness, discharge, vision changes, or symptoms persist/worsen; store below 30°C.

Monitoring Requirements

No routine monitoring required for OTC use; periodic ophthalmic review recommended for chronic dry eye disease

Pharmacology

Mechanism of Action

Sodium hyaluronate is a viscoelastic polymer that binds/retains water and forms a lubricating, protective film on the ocular surface, stabilizing the tear film and reducing friction to relieve dryness and irritation.

Onset of Action

Immediate (within minutes) symptomatic lubrication after instillation.

Duration of Effect

Variable; typically provides lubrication for hours, often longer than low-viscosity artificial tears (commonly ~1-4 hours depending on severity and tear dynamics).

Half-Life

No meaningful systemic half-life (negligible systemic absorption); ocular residence time is limited and varies with formulation/tear turnover (gel generally longer than drops).

Bioavailability

Systemic absorption/bioavailability is negligible after topical ophthalmic administration.

Metabolism

Not clinically relevant systemically; locally, hyaluronate is cleared mainly by tear turnover and enzymatic degradation (e.g., hyaluronidases) on the ocular surface.

Excretion

Not clinically relevant/unknown for this ophthalmic lubricant because systemic exposure is negligible; any minute absorbed fraction would be handled by normal endogenous hyaluronate catabolism and elimination.

Protein Binding

Not applicable (negligible systemic absorption).
