Approved Uses
Lubrication and moisturization of the ocular surface for symptomatic relief of dry eye (e.g., dryness, burning, foreign-body sensation/irritation).
Off-Label Uses
Adjunct lubrication for ocular surface irritation (e.g., contact lens-related dryness/irritation) and peri-/post-operative ocular surface lubrication when directed by an eye-care professional.
Dosage & Administration
Dosing by Condition
Dry eye: Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) about 3 times daily; may be used more frequently as needed for symptom control.
Initial Dose
1 drop into the affected eye(s) 3 times daily
Maintenance Dose
Instill one drop into the affected eye(s) 3 times daily, or as needed for comfort.
Maximum Dose
No fixed maximum dose; typical use is 1 drop in the affected eye(s) 3-4 times daily, and if frequent use is needed (e.g., >10 times/day) the patient should be assessed by an eye-care professional.
Dose Adjustment Notes
No dose adjustment is required; dosing frequency may be increased or decreased based on symptom severity and patient response.
How to Take
Wash hands. Tilt head back, pull down the lower eyelid to form a pocket, instill 1 drop into the conjunctival sac, then close/blink gently. Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye/skin/any surface. Recap/close the container after use.
Side Effects
Common Side Effects
Transient blurred vision and mild, temporary burning/stinging or ocular discomfort/irritation after instillation.
Side Effect Frequency
Common: transient blurred vision and mild burning/stinging/irritation after instillation. Uncommon/Rare: eye redness, itching, eyelid irritation; hypersensitivity reactions are rare/very rare.
Safety & Warnings
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to sodium hyaluronate or to any excipients/ingredients in the formulation.
Warnings & Precautions
For ophthalmic use only; avoid touching the tip to any surface/eye to prevent contamination; do not share the bottle (one bottle per person); remove contact lenses if advised and reinsert after a short interval; seek care if pain, vision changes, or persistent redness/irritation occurs.

Storage & Patient Advice
Missed Dose
Use the drop when remembered; if it is close to the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and resume the usual schedule (do not double).
Stopping the Medicine
Safe to stop anytime.
Overdose
Overdose is unlikely with ophthalmic use; excess instilled drops can be wiped away or the eye rinsed with clean water/saline, and no specific antidote is required.
Patient Counseling
For ophthalmic use only. Instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) as needed for dry-eye symptoms (follow prescriber/label directions). Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye/skin/any surface to avoid contamination. If wearing contact lenses, remove lenses before use and reinsert after ~15 minutes (unless the product labeling specifically states it is compatible with lenses). If using other eye medicines, separate administrations by at least 5-10 minutes (apply eye drops before ointments/gels). Temporary blurred vision or mild stinging may occur; avoid driving until vision clears. Do not share. Discard 6 months after first opening (COMOD multi-dose system).

Pharmacology
Mechanism of Action
Sodium hyaluronate forms a viscoelastic, water-retentive protective film on the ocular surface that stabilizes the tear film, reduces friction, and improves lubrication and comfort.
Onset of Action
Immediate symptomatic relief upon instillation.
Duration of Effect
Variable; typically provides lubrication for minutes to a few hours, with longer effect than low-viscosity tears in some patients.
Half-Life
Not applicable/clinically not established for systemic half-life; ocular residence is limited by tear film turnover.
Bioavailability
Systemic bioavailability is negligible after topical ophthalmic administration.
Metabolism
No clinically relevant systemic metabolism; locally, hyaluronate may be degraded by hyaluronidases and normal tissue turnover.
Excretion
Primarily cleared from the ocular surface by tear turnover/nasolacrimal drainage; any absorbed fraction is expected to be metabolized to endogenous constituents and eliminated via normal physiologic pathways.
Protein Binding
Not applicable (no meaningful systemic exposure).
