Recommended Daily Intake

Biotin: 30mcg/day (AI); Zinc: 8-11mg/day (RDA); Vitamin D3: 600-800 IU/day (RDA); B5: 5mg/day (AI); B6: 1.3-1.7mg/day (RDA); Folic Acid: 400mcg/day (RDA); L-Cystine and L-Methionine: no established RDA

Upper Tolerable Limit

Zinc: 40mg/day; Vitamin D3: 4000 IU/day (100mcg); Vitamin B6: 100mg/day; Folic Acid: 1000mcg/day; Biotin: no established UL; L-Cystine and L-Methionine: no established UL

Absorption Enhancers

Take with a fat-containing meal to enhance absorption of fat-soluble Vitamin D3; adequate protein intake supports amino acid utilization; Vitamin B6 facilitates amino acid metabolism

Absorption Inhibitors

High-dose calcium supplements may reduce zinc absorption; raw egg whites contain avidin which binds biotin and reduces its absorption; excessive alcohol impairs B-vitamin absorption; coffee and tea may reduce zinc bioavailability

Side Effects

Possible Side Effects

Generally well-tolerated at recommended doses; high zinc intake may cause nausea, vomiting, or copper deficiency; excess Vitamin B6 over prolonged periods may cause peripheral neuropathy; high-dose folic acid may mask B12 deficiency

Upper Tolerable Limit

Zinc: 40mg/day; Vitamin D3: 4000 IU/day (100mcg); Vitamin B6: 100mg/day; Folic Acid: 1000mcg/day; Biotin: no established UL; L-Cystine and L-Methionine: no established UL

Safety & Warnings

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any component; hypercalcemia and/or hypervitaminosis D (due to vitamin D3); Wilson’s disease (zinc-containing products are generally contraindicated/avoided); concomitant levodopa monotherapy (vitamin B6 can reduce levodopa efficacy unless combined with a peripheral decarboxylase inhibitor).

Interactions

Medication Interactions

Folic acid may mask vitamin B12 deficiency; Vitamin B6 at high doses may reduce effectiveness of levodopa; zinc may reduce absorption of tetracycline and fluoroquinolone antibiotics - take 2 hours apart; anticonvulsants may deplete biotin and folic acid levels

Supplement Interactions

Zinc and copper compete for absorption - avoid high-dose zinc without copper supplementation; iron supplements may reduce zinc absorption - take separately; high-dose biotin may interfere with thyroid and troponin laboratory test results

Synergistic Nutrients

Biotin + Zinc + L-Cystine for keratin synthesis; Vitamin D3 + Zinc for immune and follicle support; Vitamin B5 + B6 + B9 for cellular energy and amino acid metabolism; L-Methionine + L-Cystine as sulfur-containing amino acids supporting keratin structure
