Indications

Approved Uses

Secretolytic (mucolytic) therapy in acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases associated with abnormal mucus secretion and impaired mucus transport (e.g., acute/chronic bronchitis, tracheobronchitis, bronchiectasis).

Dosage & Administration

How to Take

Shake well before use; measure the dose with an appropriate measuring device; take orally with or without food (taking after meals may reduce gastrointestinal upset); maintain adequate fluid intake.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as remembered; if it is close to the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and resume the regular schedule; do not double doses.

Overdose

Overdose may cause GI symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), hypersalivation, and possible hypotension; management is supportive/symptomatic, consider decontamination if very recent large ingestion, and seek urgent medical attention.

Patient Counseling

Explain it loosens mucus to make coughing up phlegm easier; take as directed and measure doses accurately (shake bottle before use); can be taken with or without food; maintain good hydration; avoid combining with cough suppressants (e.g., dextromethorphan/codeine) unless advised; stop and seek urgent care if rash, blistering, or peeling occurs (SCAR risk); seek medical advice if symptoms persist/worsen or if used beyond ~4-5 days without improvement; store below 30°C and keep out of reach of children.
